Criteria for Promotion

NORMAL TECHNICAL

Level Minimum Attainment Level
Sec 1 N(T) Grade D or better in 2 subjects, one of which should be EL or Mathematics
Sec 2 N(T) Grade D or better in 2 subjects, one of which should be EL or Mathematics
Sec 3 N(T) Grade D or better in 2 subjects, one of which should be EL or Mathematics
Sec 4 N(T) to Sec 4 N(A) A mean grade of 2 or better for all N(T) subjects in the GCE N(T)-Level Examination

NORMAL ACADEMIC

Sec 1 N(A) Grade 5 or better in

- EL and 2 other subjects OR

Sec 2 N(A) Grade 5 or better in

- EL and 2 other subjects OR

Aggregate score of EL, Mathematics and 3 other best subjects at GCE N-Level Examination less than or equal to 19 points

EXPRESS

Sec 1E Pass in EL and a pass in overall percentage of all subjects combined
Sec 2E Pass in EL and a pass in overall percentage of all subjects combined
Sec 3E Grade 6 or better in EL and 2 other subjects

School Assessment

School-based assessment includes the following:

  • Weighted Assessment (WA) e.g. class tests, projects, assignments
  • Semestral Examinations e.g. Mid-Year Examination (MYE) and End-of-Year Examination (EYE)
