DSA Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (Computational Thinking Skills)
Background
Kent Ridge Secondary School offers its Applied Learning Programme (ALP) under the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) strand and is focused on developing computational thinking through robotics. Kent Ridge Secondary School will offer the DSA-Sec to eligible students via Computational Thinking Skills. Students who show aptitude in computational thinking and are passionate and committed to develop this strength should apply.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should
- be passionate about coding or robotics
- preferably have relevant experience in coding or robotics
- be a good team player
Selection Process
Shortlisted DSA applicants will be notified of the date for in-person trial and interview by email. The in-person trial and interview will be conducted on the same day.
Performance Tasks | 1. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an in-person trial. 2. The STEM (Computational Thinking Skills) trial will consist of the following: - Block-based Programming Assessment - Computational Thinking Skills Assessment 3. Each applicant will be assessed by a panel of teachers with a set of rubrics. The set of assessment rubrics is the same for all applicants. |

Interview | 1. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an in-person interview. 2. The applicants’ suitability and aptitude in computational thinking and ability to communicate their ideas confidently will be assessed by a panel of teachers. |
Meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the applicant will be shortlisted/given an offer. |
