Craft & Technology
Craft and Technology develops creative and critical thinkers through Art, Design and Technology, Music and Nutrition and Food Science. From exploratory mini projects to the creation of functional prototypes, students gain meaningful hands-on experience while building practical skills, confidence and creativity.
Overview
We believe every student has the ability to make connections, think critically, strive for continual improvement and have a deep appreciation of design, food science and the aesthetics.
Art Unit
Besides providing understanding of visual elements, aesthetics, and skills in handling various media and conceptual tools, our Art students in KRSS are also actively involved in using their art skills to improve the community by using Arts & Crafts to raise awareness and instill a sense of responsibility to protect and preserve the environment.
Design and Technology Unit
Our aim is to have confident and creative student-designers through application of technology.
Music Unit / Aesthetics
Our aim is to provide students with an authentic experience to develop a connection to music.
Nutrition Food Science Unit
Our aim is to nurture concerned citizens who take an active role in bettering the lives of those around them through their knowledge in nutrition and health, food literacy and food science.
Programmes
Lower Secondary Modular Coursework
Through fun and age-appropriate mini projects, students gain awareness of aesthetics and experience hands-on lessons in the special rooms such as workshops, kitchens and studios.
Upper Secondary Thematic Coursework
Thematic coursework emphasises the development of critical thinking skills such as analysis, planning, interpretation and evaluation. Given a set theme, upper secondary students are able to see their paper ideas turn into actual prototypes.
Farm to Table
Harvest produce to understand sustainable consumption and teamwork.
